Hint, an AI startup co-founded by Martha Stewart, launched its eponymous app on July 29, targeting homeowners. The product aims to extend generative AI beyond general chat scenarios to more specific everyday uses such as home management and maintenance.
Establish archives for housing management
After a user enters their home address, the app creates a property profile using publicly available information, including property records, weather, soil, and utility data. Users can then upload documents such as home inspection reports, warranty papers, mortgage papers, contracts, insurance policies, and invoices.
Building on this, Hint will compile a list of home maintenance items and answer questions about equipment use and care. Users can also upload photos of major appliances, allowing the app to identify their condition and provide corresponding maintenance tips.
- House maintenance schedule and tasks
- Energy Use Management and Environmental Information Inquiry
- Insurance-related data compilation and reference judgment
Maintenance reminders are a core function

One of Hint's key features is generating personalized maintenance plans for different homes. The app proactively sends reminders based on changes in the home itself, its systems, and the external environment, ing users when specific maintenance needs to be performed.

For example, in addition to common tasks such as replacing refrigerator filters, the app will also remind users that certain models need to have their condenser coils cleaned regularly to reduce potential hazards; it will also remind users when to flush the water heater or check the salinity of their household well water system.
Users can also add one-off tasks, such as replacing broken window screens or re-filling gaps in baseboards. The app also provides an overall "home rating" to show the current condition of the property.
Martha Stewart was involved in product refinement.
Hint co-founder and CTO Kyle Rush stated that Martha Stewart is not simply a brand ambassador, but rather a co-founder involved in product development and holds company equity, though she is not a cash investor.
According to him, Martha Stewart will be directly involved in adjusting the app's content, design, branding, and language, especially providing feedback on specific information such as soil and home maintenance. The company believes that her extensive experience in home management is part of the product differentiation.
Utilizing OpenAI and Gemini capabilities
On the technical level, Rush stated that Hint primarily uses commercial AI toolkits at its core, most of which come from OpenAI, while Gemini is used for image processing.
In terms of business model, the company plans to continue offering basic AI functions for free, and later launch a subscription service to provide advanced features for users with more complex needs, such as managing multiple properties. Current revenue primarily comes from affiliate revenue sharing with its network of service providers.
Additional information:Hint disclosed that it has raised $10 million in funding from investors including Brian Kelly, Slow Ventures, Tusk Venture Partners, Energy Impact Partners, Amplo VC, and Hannah Grey.
