AI startup Simile announced the completion of a $200 million Series B funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to $2 billion. This comes just five months after it emerged from seclusion and announced a $100 million Series A funding round, indicating a significant acceleration in its fundraising pace.

Greenoaks led a new round of funding.

This funding round was led by Greenoaks, with participation from Index Ventures, Hanabi, Bain Capital Ventures, A*, Factory, Definition, and CVS Health Ventures. CVS's investment arm not only contributed capital but is also a key client of Simile.

In terms of timing and amount, Simile has completed a series of large-scale financing rounds in a short period of time, and its valuation has quickly risen to $2 billion, making it one of the fastest-growing AI startups to raise funds recently.

Products focus on synthetic users

Simile primarily provides "synthetic user" services for marketing and product research. These tools attempt to use AI to simulate the behavior and feedback of different users, helping businesses conduct tests before real-world campaigns or product launches.

The company was founded by Stanford PhD Joon Sung Park. His previous doctoral research project, "Smallville," attempted to enable AI agents to simulate human life in virtual environments and continuously interact with each other.

Similar sectors continue to attract investment

Startups focusing on "synthetic users" and simulation research have recently been attracting continued venture capital attention. The report mentions that Aaru, a similar company, completed its Series A funding round last December, reaching a valuation of $1 billion.

However, the market's focus on these products remains on real-world applications. Compared to grandiose goals like "simulating 8 billion people globally," companies value more whether these products can improve efficiency and reduce trial-and-error costs in areas such as marketing testing and product validation.
