The Ethereum Foundation announced that pcaversaccio, a long-time ecosystem contributor and security researcher, has joined its board of directors for a one-year, voluntary term. This appointment comes at a time when the foundation is undergoing ongoing adjustments to its governance structure, and the outside world is paying close attention to his changing role within the Ethereum ecosystem.

The board of directors has been increased to four members.

pcaversaccio, often referred to as "pc" in the community, is also a co-founder of the emergency response project SEAL 911. With his addition, the Ethereum Foundation's board of directors now comprises four members: President Aya Miyaguchi, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Swiss legal counsel Patrick Storchenegger, and pcaversaccio.

The foundation states that the board of directors is responsible for setting the organization's long-term strategic direction and ensuring that management decisions are aligned with the foundation's values. According to the foundation, the board also serves as a "safety committee," responsible for upholding the organization's mission and ensuring its compliance with Swiss law.

New members come from the security community.

Prior to joining the board, pcaversaccio was involved with the Ethereum Foundation's Silviculture Society. This advisory group primarily provides informal advice on several long-standing principles of the foundation, including censorship resistance, open-source development, privacy, and security.

Judging from their resumes, this appointment clearly strengthens the security background within the board. For an organization centered on public blockchain infrastructure, the inclusion of security researchers in the governance team reflects the foundation's intention to continue prioritizing security and core principles during this organizational restructuring.

The foundation is undergoing a leadership change.

In recent months, several prominent researchers and executives have left the Ethereum Foundation. Some of these departing individuals have subsequently launched new Ethereum-related projects or organizations outside the foundation.

This change also corresponds to an adjustment in the foundation's own positioning. The foundation is gradually downplaying its role as an "ecological development center" and instead emphasizing long-term trusteeship, value protection, and direction control. The addition of new board members is the latest move in this round of governance restructuring.

The foundation subsequently stated on the X platform that it welcomed @pcaversaccio to the board of directors and looked forward to working together to promote the long-term development of Ethereum.
