According to CoinMeta, the "Global Gold Demand Trends Report" for the second quarter of 2026 released by the World Gold Council shows that global gold demand remained flat year-on-year in the second quarter, at 1,269 tons. In the first half of the year, global gold demand increased by 2% year-on-year to 2,522 tons, amounting to approximately $380 billion. The decline in gold prices cooled down gold investment demand. In the second quarter, global gold investment in ETF, gold bars, and gold coins dropped to 262 tons. The net outflow of gold ETF of 45 tons was the main reason for the decline in investment demand during that quarter. However, in the first half of the year, there was still a slight net inflow of gold ETF of 18 tons. Investment in gold bars and coins remained relatively stable, with a year-on-year decline of only 3% in the second quarter, supported by the strong performance in the first quarter. The total demand for gold bars and coins in the first half of the year was 21% higher than the same period last year. Driven by the Asian region, over-the-counter (OTC) investment reached 327 tons in the second quarter, pushing the demand for this sector to 571 tons in the first half of the year, showing a steady performance.
