According to CoinMeta, AAVE founder Stani Kulechov stated on July 30 that the lending protocol plans to retire dozens of assets with low usage rates and gradually shut down deployments on six blockchain networks. These changes involve approximately $98.1 million in supply assets and $15.6 million in debt. The proposal originates from the AAVE governance proposal and must be approved by DAO before it can be fully implemented. The proposal will remove 50 individual reserves, retire 21 expired PENDLE sovereign tokens, and shut down 25 reserves on Sonic, Scroll, ZkSync, Metis, Soneium, and Aptos. Deployments on AAVE will also be gradually shut down, involving 25 asset reserves.
