According to CoinMeta, Japanese authorities did not confirm whether they intervened in the foreign exchange market during the overnight trading period after the yen experienced a significant rise, while also implying that overseas parties, including American officials, provided some form of support. Japanese Finance Minister Taro Katsuyama avoided answering whether the yen's rise was due to intervention on Friday, stating only that the authorities would "remain highly vigilant and respond appropriately depending on the situation." Subsequently, Japan's top foreign exchange official, Jun Mitamura, hinted that the authorities had received assistance from the United States and other countries. He said, "I admit that the support we have received from the United States goes far beyond moral support; through my personal channels, we maintain continuous contact with American authorities."
