According to CoinMeta, the hedge fund Situational Awareness founded by 24-year-old researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, which goes by the name OpenAI, has recently begun raising new funds from existing investors and lenders. The fund, with a size of approximately $20 billion, focuses its bets on stocks related to AI. As of the end of June, the fund had achieved a net return of 439% for the year. Following a significant drop in the price of AI stock, the fund sold most of its publicly traded shares to Citadel. Before the transaction, there were about $16 billion in publicly traded shares, with a heavy position in companies within the AI industry chain such as SK (Hynix), CoreWeave, and Nebius. After the transaction, the fund still held assets worth about $10 billion, including some stocks and private equity investments such as Anthropic.
