2026-07-31 18:05:45
According to CoinMeta, hardware wallet manufacturer Coinkite is warning Coldcard Mk3 users that if their recovery seeds were generated using a specific firmware version, it is recommended that they transfer their Bitcoin as soon as possible. This warning was issued after security researchers discovered a coordinated transfer of 594.48 BTC (approximately $38.2 million), although the connection between the wallet issue and the on-chain transfers has not yet been confirmed. Coinkite stated that this issue affects recovery seeds created with firmware versions 4.0.1 to 5.0.3 of Coldcard Mk3. The company emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing and users are encouraged to migrate their funds during this period.
