Texas Leads the Nation with $56.8 Million in Losses from Cryptocurrency ATM Scams

According to CoinMeta, data from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shows that residents of Texas suffered losses of approximately $56.8 million due to cryptocurrency scams in 2025, with a total of 1,179 complaints filed, making Texas the state with the highest loss amount in the country. During the same period, the national total related losses amounted to about $389 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 58%. Texas lawmakers have stated that they will consider adopting stricter regulations than those currently in place and do not rule out proposing a ban. Currently, Indiana, Tennessee, and Minnesota have already completely banned cryptocurrencies.
