According to CoinMeta, despite the conflict in Iran causing ExxonMobil to suspend production of about 500,000 barrels of oil per day, the company remains committed to its growth plans in the Middle East. Chief Financial Officer Neil Hansen stated, "We do not make broad investment decisions based on today's headlines." Before the war broke out at the end of February, ExxonMobil's crude oil production in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar combined amounted to 900,000 barrels per day, which accounted for about one-fifth of its global total production, and both have now been severely affected. In addition, two natural gas projects in Qatar in which ExxonMobil holds shares have also been severely damaged in the Iranian attacks, resulting in a suspension of about 450,000 barrels of daily production in Qatar and an impact on another 50,000 barrels of daily production in the UAE. Hansen said that some of the company's production in the UAE is currently held in inventory, waiting for the transportation restrictions to be lifted.
