According to CoinMeta, billionaire Ken Griffin’s fund acquired the major publicly traded stock positions in a hedge fund managed by Leopold Aschenbrenner. This transaction occurred after the fund suffered significant losses from investments in artificial intelligence. The affected positions included shares of SK, a South Korean semiconductor manufacturer, which recently reported a 557% year-over-year increase in operating profit and a stock price rise of about 16%. The fund was launched two years ago by former OpenAI researcher Aschenbrenner and once managed over $20 billion in assets. Millennium Management also submitted a bid during the sale process. The fund still holds private equity investments, including positions in Anthropic, a developer, and is in communication with investors regarding potential capital commitments, emphasizing upcoming catalysts such as a possible Anthropic initial public offering.
