Minnesota, USA, enforces a ban on cryptocurrency ATM; the ban officially takes effect

According to CoinMeta, as reported by CBS News, a ban on the cryptocurrency ATM in Minnesota, USA, officially took effect on August 1st. All related devices within the state were required to cease operations and must be removed from stores by the end of this year. At the time of the ban, there were approximately 350 licensed cryptocurrency ATM units in the state, operated by 8 companies. The Minnesota Department of Commerce stated that between 2023 and 2025, they investigated 134 complaints involving cryptocurrency ATM, resulting in residents losing nearly one million dollars. After the ban was implemented, residents can still conduct cryptocurrency transactions through regulated online platforms.
