According to CoinMeta, as reported by IT, OpenAI stated on July 31 that the company had banned a number of ChatGPT accounts associated with a fraud network in Cambodia. This network used ChatGPT to create fake identities, translate fraudulent information, and produce promotional content, gaining the trust of victims through dating and other means. They then induced these victims to participate in fake cryptocurrency or gold investment projects. The relevant clues were initially provided by WhatsApp, and the individuals involved may be operating in the Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia. OpenAI has shared this information with industry partners, but the exact losses caused by this network are still unclear at this time. Some victims are said to have lost thousands of dollars.
