Bitcoin mining difficulty drops by 19.9%, miners shift to AI data center
2026-08-01 16:05:30
According to CoinMeta, the difficulty of Bitcoin mining has decreased from a peak of approximately 156 trillion in November 2025 to 126.23 trillion on July 25, 2026, representing a reduction of 19.9%, which is the third largest decline in history. Due to the fall in Bitcoin prices, rising energy costs, and reduced earnings after the halving, miners have shut down their mining machines and redirected their electrical resources to artificial intelligence data centers. The current mining economic environment has prompted many miners to seek alternative solutions with higher returns, leading to a structural shift in Bitcoin mining.
