Galaxy Research: Three waves of attacks targeting the Coldcard address have been identified.

According to CoinMeta, Wu said that Galaxy Research indicates that based on data on the Bitcoin blockchain, three waves of attacks suspected to be targeting addresses generated by Coldcard were identified, involving a total of 4,585 addresses and resulting in the transfer of 1,367.05 BTC, worth approximately 88.6 million US dollars. The first two waves were similar in terms of fund collection structure, type of receiving addresses, and address generation methods, which suggests they were likely carried out by the same attacker. However, it is not yet possible to confirm that the third wave, which differs significantly in fund collection, receiving addresses, and batch transfer methods, was either conducted by the same attacker using different tools or by another attacker taking advantage of the same address generation issue. Currently, it is impossible to determine whether there is any connection between the three waves of attacks based solely on blockchain data. Galaxy emphasizes that the above analysis is based only on blockchain data and has not verified whether the relevant addresses were indeed generated in a non-random manner; therefore, this analysis is incomplete and cannot be considered conclusive.
