According to CoinMeta, Google is increasing off-chain risks to support the expansion of its artificial intelligence chips. Recent surveys show that the four major hyperscale cloud service providers have quietly accumulated approximately $1.65 trillion in off-chain obligations, mainly related to data centers, energy infrastructure, and long-term leasing commitments. These are not traditional loans, but rather contract guarantees and leasing obligations designed to accelerate the expansion of AI. Google is rapidly expanding the use of its financial guarantees to help build AI infrastructure, committing to paying up to $43.8 billion in guarantee payments for data center leases. Google's largest guarantee risk has increased nearly sevenfold in less than a year.
