Bloomberg ETF Analysts Question Coldcard's Security Capabilities: It's "Incredible" That a Team of About 5 People Operates an Important Wallet

According to CoinMeta, a senior ETF analyst from Bloomberg, Eric Balchunas, commented on a Coldcard wallet security incident on the X platform, questioning whether a company with only about 5 employees is suitable to undertake such an important responsibility for Bitcoin storage. He stated that the number of employees behind Coldcard "seems incredibly low," and mentioned whether people would be willing to deposit their life savings in a bank that has only 5 employees and is headquartered in Canada. While this might be seen as a feature in the crypto industry, from a traditional financial perspective, it would be considered a clear risk signal. Balchunas further noted that, in comparison, institutions with larger teams such as Coinbase and Ledger may have advantages in terms of security investment and operational capabilities, even if users have to bear higher transaction costs. Bitcoin ETF offers another option: investors can obtain the security guarantees provided by large, professional, and regulated financial institutions while also enjoying lower management fees.
