According to CoinMeta, researchers claim that Bitcoin investors have lost over $88.6 million due to vulnerabilities in cold card hardware wallets. Researchers state that, due to firmware flaws, hackers are extracting Bitcoin from affected addresses in batches. A third wave of attacks has been confirmed, involving 207.7294 Bitcoins that were stolen, with an estimated total loss for cold card hackers reaching $13.6705 million (about $88.6 million), affecting 4,585 addresses. Researchers warn that these figures are based solely on analysis of Bitcoin block data and unspent output sets, and it has not yet been confirmed whether the affected addresses were indeed generated with low entropy.
