According to court documents, the agent is suspected of using credentials obtained during the investigation to make unauthorized withdrawals. He later confessed to colleagues and investigators that he took such action due to his dissatisfaction with the way FBI handled resistant crypto accounts, and planned to use the funds to retire on a vineyard. The agent has been fired, arrested, and faces charges related to possessing stolen property.
