According to CoinMeta, Capital One stated in the documents submitted to the court that the closure of Trump-related accounts in 2021 was based on anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and banking regulatory requirements, and requested the court to dismiss the lawsuits filed by Trump's side. Trump's side accused Capital One of illegally closing the accounts for political reasons after the Capitol riots. Capital One responded that the decision to close the accounts was made by the bank's anti-money laundering team in accordance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
