2026-08-04 22:04:41
According to CoinMeta, a report by OKX indicates that due to a vulnerability in Coldcard hardware wallets, users' perspectives on self-management have changed, leading to a new high in the flow of funds from decentralized exchanges to centralized exchanges. Jonathan Brockmeier, the chief compliance officer of OKX, stated that customer behavior has significantly changed after the Coldcard attack, with users beginning to transfer their assets from self-management to centralized exchanges. Brockmeier pointed out that managing private keys requires users to be responsible for their own security, while exchanges can provide specialized security teams and automatic monitoring systems. According to data from Galaxy Research, the Coldcard vulnerability has confirmed the theft of approximately 1596 BTC; if a fourth wave of attacks is confirmed, the loss could increase to about 2055 BTC, worth nearly $130 million.
