Diesel futures market plunges, benchmark retail prices rise

According to CoinMeta, despite the sharp decline in the diesel futures market, the benchmark retail price has seen an increase. According to data released by the Department of Energy/Energy Information Administration, the average retail diesel price on Monday was $5.348 per gallon, up 3.5 cents from last week. This is the fourth consecutive week that the benchmark price has risen, with a cumulative increase of 77 cents over that period. The increase occurred against the backdrop of a rapid decline in futures market prices, and the market responded positively to news of the re-opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Over the past three days, the prices of ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) contracts on the CME commodity exchange have fluctuated sharply, falling by 3.68%, 2.09%, and 5.93% respectively. The settlement price on Monday was $3.8772 per gallon, the lowest since July 13.
