According to CoinMeta, Western Union, in collaboration with the stablecoin payment company Rain, launched StableCard on August 4th, providing customers in 37 markets with the ability to receive, hold, and spend Western Union payments using the USDPT stablecoin. This product combines a digital wallet with Visa cards and is available through dedicated applications for Apple's App Store and Google Play. USDPT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on Solana and can be exchanged for US dollars at a 1:1 ratio. Customers can transfer eligible Western Union payments into the StableCard wallet or transfer them from compatible wallets or exchanges to USDPT and then spend them at Visa merchants or ATM. Western Union stated that StableCard is now available, allowing customers to make instant purchases at 1.75 million merchant locations. The card operates on USDPT, and Western Union plans to expand StableCard to over 60 markets by the end of the year.
