According to CoinMeta, the latest survey shows that with an increase in new orders, the UK's dominant service sector returned to growth last month; the survey also indicates that expectations for industry activity over the next 12 months have risen to their highest level since before the Iran war broke out in February. Data from PMI shows that the final value of the UK's PMI in July rose from 48.8 in June to 52.1, marking the first increase since April and exceeding the previous preliminary reading of 51.8. This revised figure also drove the composite PMI, which includes the smaller manufacturing sector, up from 49.3 to 52.2, surpassing the 50 threshold for the first time since April. S&P Global stated that the index of new service sector business orders in July rose from 47.6 to 50.8, reaching its highest level since February and ending a four-month decline since the outbreak of the Iran war. Although new export orders in this sector decreased for the fifth consecutive month, the decline was the smallest during this period. In addition, business confidence indices rose to their highest level since February. The economic director of S&P Global Market Intelligence, Tim Moore, said: "The expectation of stronger growth in the coming year partly reflects people's hopes for a relaxation of tensions in the Middle East, as well as recent signs of easing inflationary pressures."
