According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Reuters, the Nairobi Stock Exchange in Kenya is creating the first exchange-traded fund (ETF) in East Africa focused on AI stocks, with plans to launch it to investors before the end of the year. The Nairobi market has attracted a large number of foreign equity investors, especially those in the profitable banking and telecommunications sectors such as Safar. However, there are currently no investment opportunities in AI stocks available. The CEO of the exchange, Frank Mwiti, stated that the planned ETF will be based on direct access to companies such as Microsoft, Anthropic, and OpenAI. Mwiti also mentioned that Kenyan investors are already able to obtain products related to AI overseas, but the Nairobi Stock Exchange hopes to enable them to trade more conveniently locally.
