According to CoinMeta, an elderly farmer named Uncle Wu consulted a chatbot of a certain national AI about methods for weeding and pest control in his sesame fields. The chatbot AI generated a set of pesticide formulas. After Uncle Wu applied the pesticides according to the formulas, 150 acres of sesame plants along with weeds withered, resulting in nearly a total loss of a harvest worth over a hundred thousand yuan. The problem lay with "flusulam," a herbicide primarily used in soybean fields that is particularly sensitive to sesame seedlings. Local agricultural technicians stated that this chemical should not be sprayed across entire sesame fields, as it would effectively destroy both the crops and the weeds. When Uncle Wu inquired about the reason, the chatbot AI finally replied that flusulam was likely the main cause of the death of the sesame seedlings. The customer service of the platform involved in the incident said they would investigate the source of the incorrect information but have not yet announced any compensation plans.
