Wall Street Journal: The Debate Between Free Market and Innovation
2026-08-06 19:37:12
According to CoinMeta, The Wall Street Journal discussed the Clear Act in its editorial on August 4th, pointing out that the bill passed by Congress is filled with policy landmines, and thus expressed concern that legislators failed to eliminate these hidden dangers. The editorial acknowledged that the bill ended the regulatory grey areas left by the previous government, provided rules that investors and banks will not be able to easily abandon in the future, and paved the way for innovations such as tokenized stocks and bonds. The bill explicitly prohibits paying interest merely for holding stablecoins, while allowing rewards to be given based on customer activities. The editorial also mentioned that the settlement of securities on blockchain does not change their status as securities and they are still subject to SEC regulation.
