According to CoinMeta, on Thursday, OpenAI announced a series of adjustments to ChatGPT, switching the default model for all users to GPT-5.6 Luna. Compared to the previous GPT-5.5 Instant, the number of responses generated by Luna that contained at least one factual error was reduced by 62%. Free users and Go package users will now have access to an unlimited text chat function, as well as a new “Think” button that allows users to choose a higher level of reasoning ability for more complex questions. For Plus and Pro users, GPT-5.6 SOL will be improved to better handle daily conversations and tasks such as quick questions, online research, suggestions, planning, writing, and decision-making. OpenAI stated that this version of GPT-5.6 SOL is capable of providing more focused answers, reducing unnecessary formatting, maintaining a consistent tone, and lowering the error rate. Additionally, a new “slider” tool will be added to allow users to choose how much thought the model should put into its responses.
