According to CoinMeta, in July, the United States' imports of crude oil from Saudi Arabia dropped to zero, marking the first time in over 35 years that there were no imports of Saudi crude oil for an entire month. Data from the U.S. Department of Energy shows that shipments of Saudi crude oil to the United States in July were completely halted. Considering that earlier this year, U.S. refineries were purchasing more than 800,000 barrels of Saudi crude oil per day, this decline is quite significant. Due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and other war-related supply disruptions that drove up crude oil prices, U.S. refineries have been seeking alternative sources of crude oil. It is expected that U.S. imports of Saudi crude oil will return to around 300,000 barrels per day this month, which is in line with recent historical averages.
