Microsoft warns hackers are using BNB chain to spread malware
2026-08-07 04:40:34
According to CoinMeta, Microsoft has discovered that hackers are using the BNB blockchain for malware activities. The attackers infiltrate legitimate websites and inject malicious code to communicate with smart contracts deployed on the BNB chain. This activity utilizes etherhiding technology, and the malware retrieves the payload for the next phase through a BNB gateway on the RPC blockchain. Since only the owners of the contract wallets can modify the content, this infrastructure is more resistant to traditional destruction methods. Victims will see fake verification codes that instruct them to execute commands controlled by the attackers. Microsoft warns users not to paste commands from these verification codes or advertisements and recommends that organizations enable Microsoft’s Defender network and cloud protection to limit unnecessary command-line tools.
