Cloudflare recreates the browser for Agent Kitesurf

According to CoinMeta, Cloudflare has recreated a browser engine, Kitesurf, for AI Agent. This engine no longer relies on Chromium and runs directly on Cloudflare Workers. It is currently open for testing and will later be made open-source. Cloudflare believes that online browsing with Agent does not require features such as tabs, themes, or extensions, nor does it aim for pixel-perfect reproduction of web pages. During testing, the memory usage of Kitesurf's CPU was reduced to about one-third of that of Chromium, with the minimum memory usage being only about one-seventh. However, it took approximately 70% to 80% more time to complete tasks. Kitesurf has already been integrated with Cloudflare Browser Run, and it can be called by Puppeteer, Playwright, MCP, and CDP. Currently, it is available for free during the testing period, but it does not support videos, WebGL, some anti-bot verifications, or long-term login sessions. Complex web pages still require the use of Chromium.
