Japanese government pension investment fund achieves $152 billion in returns

According to CoinMeta, the Japanese Government Pension Investment Fund ( GPIF ) stated that, benefiting from the rise in global and Japanese stock markets, the fund recorded record profits over the three months ending at the end of June, offsetting the impact of weak performance in government bonds. The fund announced on Friday in Tokyo that it achieved quarterly earnings of 24.1 trillion yen (about $152 billion) in the second quarter, with a return rate of 8.2%, and its total asset size rose to 317.76 trillion yen. Specifically, Japanese stock investments yielded a return rate of 14.5%, bond investments suffered a loss of 1.1%, overseas stock investments had a return rate of 16.9%, and foreign bond investments had a return rate of 3.1%. As of the end of June, Japanese bonds accounted for 25.59% of the GPIF asset allocation, down from 26.91% at the end of March.
