According to CoinMeta, the Japanese Financial Services Agency has released a draft revision of regulatory guidelines, aiming to unify the reporting format for cybersecurity incidents in 17 fields, including cryptocurrency exchanges. The new rules categorize DDoS, ransomware, and other cyberattacks under a unified reporting template, and also introduce a "general format for other cybersecurity incidents and similar events." A transition period is set in place; except for specific social infrastructure operators stipulated by the Economic Security Assurance Promotion Act, other institutions are allowed to continue using the existing reporting format until the end of March 2027. This revision is currently in the public comment phase, with the deadline being September 7, 2026.
