Bitcoin BIP-110 proposal faces the challenge of insufficient miner support
2026-08-07 20:14:28
According to CoinMeta, Bitcoin’s proposal BIP-110 has not been able to disappear despite having almost zero support from miners. This proposal aims to temporarily limit the amount of non-payment data that can be stored on the Bitcoin blockchain and is expected to enter a mandatory signaling period on August 9th. Although the usual 55% threshold for approval cannot be met, supporters of the proposal believe that it is not miners who govern Bitcoin, but rather nodes that decide whether to accept blocks. Supporters of BIP-110 argue that users have the right to reject software changes that they consider to alter the network’s expected behavior. Regardless of whether BIP-110 is successful or not, its importance may surpass any debates regarding ordinals or “spam.”
