Analyst: EU's stablecoin regulatory framework revised, influenced by US policy
2026-08-08 19:53:58
According to CoinMeta, as reported by bitcoinnews, the European Union's Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (FSMC) has officially finalized revisions to the regulatory framework for stablecoins outlined in the Crypto Assets Markets Act (CAMA). These revisions will extend to cover other emerging technologies as well. The aim of this update is to address the operational challenges faced by non-EU stablecoin issuers (such as Tether) who were previously excluded due to stringent requirements. Additionally, these changes are significantly influenced by U.S. regulations and the stablecoin policies promoted by the Trump administration. Furthermore, the new framework will also consider whether to extend MiCA to the emerging fields of tokenized payments and deposits.
