Bitcoin BIP-110 fork may lead to replay attack risks
2026-08-08 20:39:50
According to CoinMeta, as reported by CryptoNews, Bitcoin developer Kevin Loaec warns that a BIP-110 fork could expose holders to the risk of replay attacks. If holders attempt to sell tokens created by a potential BIP-110 chain split without first separating their balances, they may lose their actual Bitcoin. The fork will create two transaction histories, and the Bitcoin held by holders before the fork will exist on both chains. Loaec points out that large holders may become targets of attacks, as a successful replay attack could result in greater gains. BIP-110 is intended to limit non-payment data stored in Bitcoin transactions, and miners can support this proposal in advance through signaling during a difficulty cycle of 2016 blocks, but the current support rate is only 2.6%.
