Institution: US July CPI data suggests that inflationary pressures have eased somewhat

According to CoinMeta, institutional analysis indicates that the market generally expects the US CPI to rise by 0.1% month-on-month in July, following a 0.4% decline in June. Excluding fuel and food, the core CPI is expected to grow at a monthly rate of 0.2% and at an annual rate of 2.5%, which would be the smallest year-on-year increase since February. After the weak July non-farm payroll report on Friday, a slowdown in inflation growth could help ease inflation concerns within the Federal Reserve. Previously, at the meeting on July 29th, three officials voted in favor of raising interest rates. The CPI report may show that pressure related to energy prices has eased, a pressure that intensified sharply in the months following the US's war with Iran at the end of February. In early July, retail gasoline prices fell to their lowest level in nearly four months, before rebounding to over $4 per gallon by the end of the month. The report may also indicate that as the cost of aviation fuel stabilizes, airfare prices have also decreased.
