Based on current forecasts, the adjustment for social security in 2027 will be higher than the 2.8% in 2026. The Senior Citizens Alliance expects the COLA for social security in 2027 to be 3.8%, while AARP predicts it to be 3.6%. The Social Security Administration reports that in June 2026, the average retired worker received $2,084.40 per month; with a 3.6% adjustment, this would increase by about $75 per month, and with a 3.8% adjustment, it would increase by about $79 per month.
