Bitcoin BIP Requests to Remove Luke Dashjr from His Position
2026-08-10 15:02:03
According to CoinMeta, on August 9th, Erhardt called for the removal of Luke Dashjr from their position and upgraded the discussion regarding Dashjr's handling of BIP110 and the recent chain split controversy. Murch posted this motion on the Bitcoin development mailing list and subsequently opened a pull request 2248 on GitHub for the implementation of the proposal. However, less than an hour after posting the email on Murch, Dashjr rejected these accusations. As of August 10th, the pull request for removal is still open, and the current BIP3 document continues to list Dashjr and five other BIP editors. Murch accused Dashjr of inconsistency in their handling of BIP110 and mentioned that they attempted to publicly assign proposal numbers BIP before the discussion in the mailing list. Murch also claimed that since other editors started serving in April 2024, the number of editing comments made by Dashjr accounts for less than 1%. Currently, the proposal to remove Dashjr is still under discussion, and no formal decision has been reached yet.
