According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Reuters, the US dollar stabilized on Monday, approaching a two-month low. Following weak employment data on Friday, investors are awaiting this week's inflation data for clues regarding the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike path. The data shows that the US economy unexpectedly lost jobs in July, and the employment growth in the previous two months was significantly revised downward, reducing market expectations for a Fed interest rate hike. "This is a negative event for the dollar," said a foreign exchange strategist. He believes that if the data performs strongly, the market will reprice interest rate hikes. The futures market has lowered the probability of a September hike from 67% to 44%. US Treasury yields tumbled significantly after the employment report, with the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield closing at 4.647%. Core inflation is expected to rise 0.2% month-on-month, with the annual rate dropping from 2.6% to 2.5%. The euro traded slightly against the dollar at 1.1563, while the Japanese yen depreciated to 158.52 against the dollar. Speculators have reduced their bearish bets on the yen to the largest level in 12 years. The US Dollar Index also saw slight changes, closing at 99.62, with speculators increasing their net long positions in the dollar during the latest week to the highest level since December 2022.
