According to CoinMeta, Japanese Economic Minister Shigeru Shiroi stated that Japan's spending plan will provide long-term support for the yen, in order to counter market concerns regarding the country's fiscal situation. In an interview, he pointed out that Japan's fiscal policy is not as expansionary as the outside world imagines, as the government places great emphasis on sustainability. Shiroi emphasized that a responsible and proactive fiscal policy will have a positive impact on the economy and the yen, and as investment in Japan and demand for yen assets increases, so will the demand for the yen naturally rise. His remarks come at a time when market participants' doubts about Japan's spending plan and the government's influence over the central bank continue to intensify. These concerns have grown since the release of the economic growth strategy outline, and although the roadmap covers 17 industries, the government has not yet disclosed how much of the investment will come from the public sector.
