According to CoinMeta, Anthropic has officially launched its mid-range flagship model Claude Sonnet 5, which features powerful autonomous planning capabilities of the intelligent agent, as well as automatic operation through browser and terminal tool integration. The new model significantly outperforms its predecessor Sonnet 4.6 in assessments related to intelligent search and computer operations. Users can adjust the level of mental engagement to bring its performance close to that of the flagship model Opus 4.8. Claude Sonnet 5 will retain its initial launch price permanently, which is one-third cheaper than its predecessor; it costs $2 to input token and $10 to output token. The original price increase plan has been canceled. Calculated per unit price, Sonnet 5 is consistently one-third cheaper than Sonnet 4.6, with a price that is only 40% of Opus 4.8.
