Australian business conditions improved slightly in July, but business confidence remains fragile
2026-08-11 09:47:44
According to CoinMeta, a survey released by the National Bank of Australia ( NAB ) shows that the business conditions index rose by 1 point to 4 in July, but it is still below the long-term trend level of 7. The confidence index remained at -6, far lower than its level in February. The survey indicates that businesses are facing cost pressures, and tensions in the Gulf region have driven oil prices up again. Although the results have improved compared to the peak of the Middle East crisis, ongoing uncertainties continue to drag down business confidence. The Reserve Bank of Australia will hold a meeting on Tuesday, and the market generally expects it to maintain interest rates at 4.35% unchanged, with three rate hikes already made this year.
