According to CoinMeta, Jeff Schmid, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, stated in a speech on August 4 that his main concern is inflation, believing that the current level of inflation is "too high," and pointed out that bringing it back to the Fed's 2% target requires "tighter policies." As of August 6, the 30-year fixed mortgage rate had risen for the fifth consecutive week, reaching 6.69%, the highest level since July 2025.
