Ethereum Domain Name Service ENS Announces Approval of New Proposal, Establishes a Full-time Operating Foundation
2026-08-11 22:55:35
According to CoinMeta, Wu said that Ethereum domain name service ENS announced that token holders have approved and implemented the “next era of ens DAO” proposal. As a result, ENS Foundation has officially become an operating entity with a full-time executive director, employees, and a five-member board of directors. The foundation will be responsible for participating in the affairs of organizations such as ICANN, IETF, and W3C, advancing work related to ens top-level domains, regulatory communications, and brand protection. Meanwhile, ENS Labs will continue to be in charge of protocol and product development. The ENS tokens held by DAO account for 54.6% of the total supply and are still under the control of the token holders. Only 1 million ENS tokens will be allocated to the foundation once, to be used for employee salaries within the established framework. Transactions involving ENS Endowment will now have an additional 9-day lock-up period, and the ENS security committee can prevent operations that exceed the foundation’s authorized scope. The foundation’s board of directors is appointed and removed by the token holders. The first five-member board includes the executive director Alexander Urbelis, founder Nick Johnson, as well as Kartik Talwar, Brett Sun, and Anthony Leutenegger.
