According to CoinMeta, Ben Goertzel stated that he has been working in the field of general artificial intelligence ( AGI ) for 50 years and is currently building this technology. He mentioned that within the next two years, AI will begin to change everything, including people's jobs. He pointed out that once machines with human-level thinking emerge, they will be capable of undertaking all human economic activities. He also emphasized a transitional period that has not been given enough attention: AI will be good enough to replace jobs, but the systems are not yet ready to provide any safeguards, lacking safety nets and contingency plans. He discussed how the entire American economy has become a huge gamble on the takeover by AI, and what would happen if this gamble fails. He believes that a universal basic income ( UBI ) will become inevitable and pointed out that blockchain is a key technology to prevent this future from being controlled by a few tech giants.
