Fed official Goolsbee: Inflation is the biggest problem for the economy
2026-08-12 07:58:48
According to CoinMeta, Austan Goolsby, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, stated in a video that the central challenge to the current economy is not unemployment, but rather rapid price increases. He noted that although he does not have voting rights, he is concerned about the persistently high inflation and believes that the issue of inflation should dominate the upcoming policy discussions. Goolsby's remarks were made against the backdrop of internal divisions within the Federal Reserve, where three voting policymakers have already pushed for a rate hike in July. The market is eagerly awaiting the release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, and economists expect inflation to accelerate again in July.
