According to CoinMeta, the Central Bank of Russia will allow retail investors to trade Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and USDT, with the latter becoming the only stablecoin on the initial list. The draft rules limit non-qualified investors to a maximum of 300,000 rubles (about $3,600) in cryptocurrency purchases per year through each intermediary, while qualified investors are not subject to this restriction. This whitelist provides details for the legislation passed in July, which will enable regulated cryptocurrency trading on September 1st, but it does not specify which assets retail investors can purchase. Cryptocurrency payments within Russia remain prohibited.
