Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group plans to support blockchain settlement of Japanese government bonds

According to CoinMeta, as reported by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group plans to support the settlement of Japanese government bonds on blockchain as early as the fiscal year 2027, and to use tokenized deposits or stablecoins to be issued by institutions such as Mitsubishi UFJ Bank for instant settlement, in order to improve the efficiency of funds for institutional investors. The group plans to complete a proof of concept targeting Japanese government bond repurchase transactions within this year.
