According to CoinMeta, Riot Platforms ( Riot ) and Anthropic have signed a 20-year agreement to provide 191 megawatts of data center capacity, with the total value of the agreement being approximately $9.1 billion. Although this amount represents estimated revenue and is not a one-time payment, the overall value of the agreement could reach around $16.1 billion, including two five-year extension options. Riot was valued at about $7.3 billion at the time of the announcement, indicating that the headline value of the agreement exceeded the company's previous equity value. Riot aims to achieve total revenue of $647.4 million by 2025, and after the announcement, the stock price rose as investors re-evaluated the actual value of Riot's infrastructure. This agreement marks a potential significant shift in Riot's business model; the infrastructure, originally built for Bitcoin mining, has now become highly attractive to the AI industry, which is in urgent need of electricity. Riot's Rockdale facilities have a development capacity of about 700 megawatts, while the Corsicana location can access approximately 1 gigawatt of electricity. Riot stated that its portfolio includes nearly 2 gigawatts of fully certified electricity.
